Day 7
Thursday, May 2, 2013
This is my first morning in Mexico. I am in Saltillo, an old city with much history. I decided to go around Monterrey because it is so large and start my acclamation into this culture in what I felt would hopefully be a more forgiving environment. I am in the old city center. I found a hotel for $200 peso ($16 US), secure parking for the bike, hot and cold running water, toilet and shower are in the room, excellente!
I do not have a plan from here as yet. Sunday will be Cinco De Mayo, Mexico's Independence day. There will be many parades and celebrations. So I will want to be somewhere settled by Saturday. I will likely just stay here in Saltilla. I will know more after today.
Well after touring The Presidents Museum and The Museum of the Revalation and looking for wifi all day….I have decided to move along to Zacatecas and Guadalupe. And they don't celebrate that Independence Day in this part of Mexico anyway. Oh well…More will be revealed…
The cathedral next door to the casino.....?
The Palace.
Another smaller Plaza.
A nice market.
My first street food....people were lined up eating tacos for breakfast....They were good!
The Policia.
Me with the five Presidents of Mexico from that State.
Another shot of the Palace.
This is Salvador....he took me on a tour of the Cathridal and he practiced his english on me....his english is good....my spanish is not very good yet.
